Aiming for Fort Dodge

Lead Summary

With just two total seniors - both girls - the New Hampton cross country team will be extremely young. However, they hope to improve upon last season, where the men’s team placed sixth and the girls’ squad finished last of the seven teams that participated in the Northeast Iowa Conference Meet.
“I’d like us to place higher in the conference and district standings, which I know is a challenge with a young team, but we certainly have solid talent. I’d like to send more runners to the state meet in Fort Dodge this year,” coach Jamie Ohrt said. “Lastly, my main goal, as always, is to start as a team, but leave as family!”
In 2018, the Chickasaws only had one individual compete at the state meet - Nolan Usher. With him graduating, members of this year’s team will need to take a step forward and improve in order to make it there.
