Area youth collect food donations

Lead Summary

Hayracks filled with youth were riding around Nashua asking for donations for the Nashua Area Food Pantry on Sunday afternoon. Area churches gathered their youth groups together for a good cause and were excited about their results. This was a good way for area youth from different churches to come together to do community service, meet people they may not know and enjoy the weather at the same time. After an afternoon of collecting food and cash donations from Nashua residents, the students all met at the Nashua Area Food Pantry. They weighed all the donated food and counted all the cash donations while enjoying a snack. The final totals were 840.4 pounds of food and $96 in cash were donated for the afternoon collection. They had over 60 more pounds of food donated this year which was exciting for the area youth who worked hard.“All did a great job,” said Pat Kilby who was waiting for the delivery at the food pantry. This is an annual event which people look forward to every year and the area youth groups can learn about the need of food in the Nashua area while helping the cause.Anyone who would still like to donate to the Nashua Area Food Pantry can contact Kilby or any of the other volunteers.
