Chickasaw boys find plenty of positives outside

Lead Summary

After a couple of “false starts,” the New Hampton boys track team finally found its way outdoors on Tuesday.  And it was worth the wait for the Chickasaws, who got three victories and a number of strong performances on their way to a second-place finish at the Decorah Early Bird.  “We saw a lot of good things out there,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said, “and it was just good to get a chance to compete against someone else. But I thought, for a meet in early April, there was some things we could hang our hat on.”  Decorah won the five-team meet with 95 points while New Hampton finished with 59, 18 more than both Waukon and South Winneshiek.  New Hampton got wins from Josh Fenske in the 100 and the 200 and from Keagan John in the 400.  For all of the New Hampton results, please see the April 7 Tribune.
