Chickasaw girls cruise to title in opening round

Although they played far from their best on Monday, the New Hampton girls golf team was still able to cruise to a victory in the first round of regionals at Jesup Golf and Country Club and advance to the regional finals.
With a team score of 365, the Chickasaws bested runner-up Sumner-Fredericksburg by 35 strokes.
“The course had a ton of trees, the rough was really long, and the greens were the fastest we had seen all year,” New Hampton coach Eric Olson said. “We made a few mistakes with course management. If you hit the ball off-line, you were penalized.”
