Chickasaw track girls post an impressive second

Lead Summary

This may sound weird, but it’s true: New Hampton’s girls track team was much more impressive finishing second by 75 points Friday than it was winning by 80 last Tuesday.  Sure, Decorah dominated the team race at its own invitational Friday as the Vikings piled up 176 points to the runner-up Chickasaws’ 101.  “You always love to win meets,” New Hampton coach Jeanette Laures said, “but this was much better for us. We ran much better times and took a lot of positives out of it.”  New Hampton got wins from Darian Wegner in the long jump and Serina Hovden in the discus and its 4x200 team of Rachel Rinken, Sadie Tenge, Kaelyn Ambrose and Wegner and its sprint medley relay team of Isabel Leichtman, Ambrose, Bailey Knowlton and Tenge won their races.  More on the story may be found in the April 11 Tribune.
