Chickasaw trapshooters open season with a bang

New Hampton’s girls opened their trapshooting season with strong performances as they swept the top honors in the Chickasaw season opener at Nashua Saturday.  Kennady Nie especially had a quick start, scoring the first perfect 50 of her career, not only capturing the top spot for the girls, but leading New Hampton Red to the best squad score.    “The skies were clear and the winds were calm, but we whipped a shooting storm that was a sight to behold,” said an enthusiastic Chuck Stanton.  The coach added, “When the proverbial smoke cleared, the Chickasaws came home with six of the nine awards given for the day. The team had a month of practice in not exactly ideal weather to prepare and their efforts were rewarded with an excellent performance by the entire team.”  Nie’s 50 was followed by a 47 by Katie Holschlag and a 45 by Anna Holschlag to complete the sweep for the lady Chickasaws. All of the New Hampton scores may be found in the April 7 Tribune.
