Chickasaw trapshooters shine during home meets

Lead Summary

The bad news is that New Hampton Red lost their first squad competition of the season Saturday at the New Hampton trapshooting invitational.  But the squad to unseat the fab five for the first time is also from New Hampton, and that's the good news. It was a barnburner, with NH White coming in with a score of 225, NH Red at 224 and NH Black with a 222.  “That just goes to show how deep we are,” coach Chuck Stanton said. “With 11 schools and 36 squads, to win 1-2-3, that's beyond remarkable. Then we had the top two boys and two of the top four girls so 7 of the 11 awards stayed at home.”  On Thursday NH Red did win as the Chickasaws hosted Turkey Valley and Waverly-Shell Rock. In that meet New Hampton Red's 228 came from a 48 by Christian Schwickerath, Kevin Burgart's 47, a 46 by Austin Schmidt, 45 by Zach Heying and 42 from Kennady Nie.  For all the New Hampton scores from each meet, please see the April 11 Tribune.
