Chickasaws finish sixth at state golf tournament

Lead Summary

New Hampton’s boys golf team completed a highly successful season with a sixth-place finish at the Class 2A state tournament after Friday’s final round was cancelled due to poor course conditions at Marshalltown’s American Legion Golf Course.
Led by Ryan Anderson’s 76, the Chickasaws finished Thursday’s first round with a 325, and after Iowa High School Athletic Association officials decided to cancel the final round of all three state tournaments, that score will stand as the final state meet result.
Des Moines Christian claimed the state title with a 304, five shots better than West Branch.
Anderson, meanwhile, capped a brilliant high school career with a top-10 finish as his 76 was good for a tie for sixth place. Panorama’s Kolby Shackleford won the individual state title with a 69, three shots better than West Branch freshman Dylan Countryman.
Justin Reinking finished in 28th with an 81, Connor Hackman was 31st with an 82, Wyatt Stochl was 44th with an 86, Hunter Pesek was 48th with an 87 and Alex Kriener was 55th with a 91.
The abbreviated state tournament marked the end of the prep golf careers for Anderson, Reinking, Hackman and Stochl.
