Chickasaws get key NEIC sweep

Lead Summary

Aden Zwanziger, Noah Fye and Josh Fenske have been around the proverbial block a time or two so no one had to tell them that Friday’s doubleheader at Oelwein was, to put it simply, huge.
Win two and the Chickasaws would stay in the thick of the Northeast Iowa Conference race; split or, even worse, be swept and the hole they’d need to climb out of would be difficult.
And those three veteran seniors — who have been summer teammates since fifth grade — helped spark the Chickasaws to 12-2 and 13-2 victories over an Oelwein team that threw their two best pitchers at New Hampton.
New Hampton, which got a walkoff hit from Mason Cleveland to beat Denver 6-5 on Thursday, came into the game with a 4-2 NEIC mark while the Huskies stood at 3-1.
More details on the double win may be found in the June 12 Tribune.
