Chickasaws get what they need at Osage

Lead Summary

Three track athletes were gone to an FFA convention Tuesday and another was missing due to a funeral, still, New Hampton’s girls put together a fourth-place finish among the 10 teams running at Osage Tuesday.  Charles City won the meet, with Osage second and Crestwood third.  “We were a little slim,” admitted coach Jeanette Laures. “We were trying to use this as a type of training meet. Many of our girls were running a distance above what they usually run.”  Since the girls were competing in the first of two meets this week — the second was the New Hampton coed yesterday [Thursday] — practice time was cut a little short, according to the coach.  Two events took the top spot at Osage, as Darian Wegner continued her domination in the long jump with a winning effort of 16-5.5 and the 4x100 won with, in order, Rachel Rinken, Wegner, Bailey Knowlton and Sadie Tenge.  For all of the New Hampton results, please see the April 14 Tribune.
