Chickasaws win top honors

Lead Summary

New Hampton Red had to compete in a shootoff when the Chickasaw trap team traveled to a five-team meet at Nashua last Saturday. But win or lose, the top squad was going to be from New Hampton.
Both NH Red and NH Black finished with a 223, but after the Red squad completed their shootoff — with Karson Crooks, Jordan Holthaus, Katie Holschlag, Luke Croell and Mitch Pickar —  they came out the winner. New Hampton Black, with Cam Maas, Carver Gage, Dwight Schwickerath, Tristen Schmidt and Tanner Jenkins took second.
That competition is about the only thing heated so far this spring, as Tuesday’s meet at Osage was called off due to an abundance of snow at the Osage range. But that will make this Saturday’s meet at New Hampton — which is also senior morning — that much more anticipated.
“We’ll have around 180-some shooters there Saturday,” coach Chuck Stanton said. “People can stop out and see what we’re all about.”
Among the seniors are Karson Crooks and Jordan Holthaus, they were among the top guys at Nashua Saturday.
