‘Don’t quit’ Chickasaws go 1-1 in pair of NEIC tilts

Lead Summary

If New Hampton girls basketball coach Chad Pemble has learned anything about his team the past 2 1/2 months, it is that this group of Chickasaws simply don’t quit.
They showed that resiliency Thursday night in a 47-34 loss to Class 4A fifth-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock and they showed it again Friday with an impressive bounce-back 53-27 win over Oelwein.
“They absolutely don’t quit,” Pemble said, “and I love that about this group of girls. We have great chemistry, and no matter what the situation is, they just dig deep, support each other and battle through everything.”
After the win at Oelwein, New Hampton had a 10-7 overall record, but of those seven losses, six of them have come to ranked teams, including two to the Go-Hawks, one to 5A sixth-ranked Cedar Falls, two to 3A ninth-ranked Waukon and one to 3A seventh-ranked Crestwood.
