 Eleanor "Babe" Edson age 100 of Nashua, Iowa died peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Cedar Vale Assisted Living in Nashua. Happy to be where she wanted to be; safe, loved and in charge of everything to the end.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Nashua with Rev. Ben Scholl presiding. Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery.Friends may greet the family 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Online condolences for Eleanor’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comEleanor Ione “Babe” Edson was born May 7, 1916, in rural Chickasaw County, near Republic, the daughter of Mark and Emily (McDonald) Caswell. She received her education in Nashua and was a graduate of the Class of 1933. She was married to Donald Edson in Rockford, IL. Eleanor worked for the Interstate Power Company for 20 years as an accounting clerk in Nashua office. She and her husband also owned a local car dealership for many years. ‘Babe’ was active in community organizations including, the Eastern Star, of which she was a past Matron, the First Congregational Church, the Nashua Country Club, the Nashua Garden Club and also knitted for the Shriners Hospital. In her retirement she enjoyed her hobbies, such as painting, gardening and traveling.She is survived by nephews, Timothy Caswell, Mark Caswell and Thomas Caswell; neices, Beth Mellman, Eleanor Ann Scharnhorst, Patricia Thompson and Joan Meighan.; many grand and great neices and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on February 12, 1970; two brothers, James Caswell and Harland Caswell; three sisters, Nellie Todd, Zatha Mellman and Julia Hogstrom.
