Firing on all cylinders

Lead Summary

While the distractions that come along with prom may have contributed to the first trapshooting squad loss for New Hampton this season at Osage Saturday, coach Chuck Stanton wouldn’t change a thing.  “We had 26 people leave early, so we did some things out of the ordinary,” he said on Sunday. “But when I went to the grand march on Saturday I realized — the kids can look as good as they can shoot!”  While New Hampton Red was defeated by a Northwood-Kensett squad, it came by just a point, 224-223, and followed on the heels of an outstanding performance Thursday.  Until the Chickasaws competed at Cedar Falls that day, no more than four of the eight or nine squads New Hampton usually competes with reached a 200 on the same day during the season.  Thursday six squads had scores of 200 or above, led by NH Red with a 236.  For all of the New Hampton results from each day, please see the May 2 Tribune.
