If you don’t succeed, try, try again

For anyone who doubts the perseverance of Chickasaw County residents, we offer last Thursday evening as a rebuttal. That’s the night that three New Hampton businesses — the Blue Iris, Josie’s and Butch’s — put on the second Classic Night in a month. The first event was scheduled for Aug. 4, but in what has been a rainy summer, thunderstorms moved into the area shortly after the first Classic Night commenced. Most event organizers would have said something to the effect that “we tried” and written off the event to bad luck. These are not your normal event organizers, however, and instead, they decided to give Classic Night another try. They got the rewards — a beautiful late summer evening and huge crowds — they deserved, and while we will tip our hats to them next week in our monthly lauding of area organizations and residents, we wanted to say a special thank you to the businesses that helped pull off a coup for New Hampton. It was great to see downtown filled to the brim, and we hope all of us have learned a lesson — if we don’t succeed at first, try, try again — from the organizers of Classic Night.
