Trojans making progress on court

Lead Summary

Going into Monday night’s bout against Central of Elkader, Turkey Valley hadn’t won a set during their four matches against Upper Iowa Conference opponents and Central had only lost one set in conference play, which included a 3-0 win over Kee, a team the TV girls lost to 3-0.    But, with two match wins under their belt from the weekend tournament at Waukon, the Trojan girls went in with perhaps more confidence than earlier in the season.    They are getting better.    “Last night we hosted a very solid Central team,” said coach Ethan Adams. “We talked as a team about facing adversity.”    With a 2-14 record, the girls know all about that. But they showed their fortitude in the first set, which they won, 25-22.    “It was good to see these girls go out and take the first set,” said Adams. “We showed a lot of hustle and intensity, but above all, we started swinging at the ball. This helped keep us in system and them out early in the match.”
