Jean Marie Roths age 79 of New Hampton, died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington with Rev. Brian Dellaert celebrating the Mass. Lectors for the service will be Bryan Persichetti and Stacy Cochran. Ann Bennett will be the organist accompanying the North Washington Men's Choir. Presenting the offertory gifts are Jenna Slocum, Lyndsey Cochran, Cara Beauvais and Erin Persichetti.  Pallbearers will be Jordan Roths, Bryce Persichetti, Shayne Cochran, Joseph Slocum, Josef Beauvais, Jim Macdiarmid and Bob Hackman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jenna Slocum, Cara Beauvais, Stacy Cochran, Lyndsey Cochran and Erin Persichetti. Interment will be at a later date.Friends greeted the family from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass on Monday at church.  Online condolences for Jean's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comJean Marie Roths was born Feb. 9, 1938 in Dubuque, the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Kobliska) Haus. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in North Washington all the way through high school graduating in 1956.She met the love of her life, Richard Roths, at the skating rink. The couple were married on Oct. 20, 1956 at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington. To this union three children were born.The couple moved to New Hampton where Jean worked at Holly's Cafe as a waitress. She later worked at the New Hampton Egg Plant and later in life was a care provider for numerous elderly people around the New Hampton area.In her younger years she had a passion for softball. Jean was the second basemen on the North Washington team which played at Haus Park. Later in life she enjoyed playing cards, lottery tickets and time spent walking and enjoying nature. Jean always loved the farm life and spoke often of her time on the farm with her father.Jean is survived by one son, Kevin (Linda) Roths of New Hampton; two daughters, Pam (Bill) Cochran of Waterloo, and Judi (Carlos) Persichetti of San Diego; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Jim Macdiarmid) Cochran of New York City, NY; Shayne Cochran of Waterloo; Lyndsey Cochran of Des Moines; Jenna (Joe) Slocum of Cedar Rapids; Jordan Roths of Fayette; Cara (Josef) Beauvais of Kansas City, Mo.; Bryce (Erin) Persichetti of Philadelphia, Pa.; one great-grandchild Joslyn Beauvis.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Roths on December 21, 1982; one sister, Eileen Webb.
