New Hampton boys show plenty of quality on track

Lead Summary

When it comes to numbers, New Hampton certainly doesn’t have the biggest boys track team around.  But the Chickasaws showed that quality can make up for quantity Friday night when they ran to a solid fourth-place finish at the Dave Sage Go-Hawk Relays in Waverly.  “We were very happy with the way the boys competed,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said. “We had a lot of highlights, a lot of things we can build on.”  Decorah won the meet with 162 points, 22 more than Dike-New Hartford. The host Go-Hawks finished with 105 while New Hampton and North Fayette Valley both had 81.  The quartet of Braydon Fisher, Keagan John, Shane Burke and Josh Fenske won both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, and the 4x100 time of 45.77 and the 4x200 time of 1:35.99 surpassed New Hampton’s best efforts in all of 2016.
