New Hampton just happy to be on a course

New Hampton finally got to play in a golf meet Thursday. The good news is the Chickasaws put together a solid round and claimed a triangular title at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Sumner. The bad news is the weather turned south again over the weekend, and the Chickasaws trip to the 18-hole Waverly-Shell Rock Invitational was called off.“We can’t catch a break with the weather,” New Hampton coach Bill Glenn said. “I’m getting too old for this. I get it. It snows in April sometimes but usually, the next day it’s 60 and it’s gone. I’d kill, the guys would kill, for just a few nice days.”Still, at least the boys got to play one day, and New Hampton certainly showed its potential as it carded a 167 to beat second-place Sumner-Fredericksburg by seven strokes.
