NH/TV gets off on the right foot

Lead Summary

Be warned, New Hampton sports fans: If you sit next to Carson Babcock at an event and have extra food, you might not have it for very long.
The New Hampton/Turkey Valley junior has made a big jump, at least in wrestling terms, in weight this season. After competing at 138 a year ago, Babcock is now a 160-pounder, and he had a pretty good opening week as a big man — recording one of the Chickasaws’ eight pins in a 60-16 dual win over Decorah and finishing third at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational over the weekend in Independence.
“I got to be honest with you, I like it, it’s a lot easier to make weight as a big guy than it was as a little guy,” Babcock said after he opened the 2019-20 season with a 7-1 run, and then he added with a laugh, “Yeah, if you sit next to me with three pieces of pizza, I guess you’re giving me one.”
