Veronica J. Roethler, 94

Veronica J. Roethler, age 94 of Alta Vista and formerly of Little Turkey, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at MercyOne New Hampton  Medical Center.  

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, with Father Jerry Kopacek officiating. 

Burial was held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, with a 3:30 p.m. Rosary and a Scriptural Wake Service immediately following the Rosary. Visitation continued at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday.

Veronica was born Nov. 9, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Langreck) Gerleman.  

Veronica was united in marriage to Francis Michael Roethler on April 12, 1951, at Assumption Catholic Church in Little Turkey.

Following their marriage, the couple farmed south of Alta Vista, Veronica was a homemaker her whole life.  

She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.  

Veronica enjoyed time away from the farm — bowling in two leagues at New Hampton for many years.  She also bowled in Elma with her friends.  Veronica enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning and shopping for clothes. She always had a soft spot in her heart for children and babies.  The Game Show Network, Molly B., Daniel O’Donnell and traveling were a few of her passions.

Veronica is survived by her three children, Dale Roethler, of Alta Vista, David (Susan) Roethler, Plainfield, and Diane Roethler, Spring Hill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tina (Roethler) Henderson, Parks, Arkansas, Tammy (Robert) Jordan, Alta Vista, Tony Roethler, Elma, Tyrel Roethler, Elma, and Kelly Roethler, Franklin, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Joseph Jordan, Sumner, Victoria Jordan, Alta Vista, Kimberly Jordan, Alta Vista, Brianna Jordan, New Hampton, Kaylee Roethler, New Hampton, Kaitlyn, Keira, Kenzie Roethler, Elma, Summer Callihan and Javon Roethler, Franklin, Tennessee; brother, Joe Gerleman, Ames; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. Roethler; parents, Joseph and Rose Gerleman; sister, Jovina Scally; brothers, Herman, Alfred, Eugene and Gilbert Gerleman; in-laws, Herbert and Rose Roethler, and Clair and Norma Roethler; and nephew, Jim Scally.
