Sue was born on February 23, 1939, at her parents home in rural Nashua.
She attended school in Ionia and Nashua.
She met the love of her life, Julius “Bud” Drewelow, through his sister. The couple started dating in January 1955 and were married on Aug. 7, 1955, at First Baptist Church in New Hampton. To this union four children were born.
Bud tells the story of their first date that Sue made him a wonderful, home-cooked meal, and that was the way to his heart.
Sue was an Avon representative for many years along with doing childcare and laundry at the New Hampton Hospital.
She was also very involved in the First Baptist Church in New Hampton and Charles City. She served on many boards over the years — including the Education Board, teaching Sunday School and the Christian Circle.
In her free time, she enjoyed baking, canning, traveling, going out to eat and spending time with her family and friends.
She will always be remembered as an outstanding wife and mother.
Sue is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bud Drewelow of New Hampton; three children, Raymond Drewelow of New Hampton, Rhonda (Jon) Knight of Waterloo, and Richard (Audrey) Drewelow of New Hampton; four grandchildren, Tracie, Dustin, Kyle, and Richard Jr.; two sisters, Lila (Leonard) Deitrich of Mason City, and Pernella (Gerald) Monaghan of Waverly, IA; one brother, Clark (Mary) Crooks of Panca City, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one child, Rita Drewelow in infancy; four brothers, Wendell, Clayton, Roger, and Russell Crooks; and two sisters, Shirley Silber and Alice Barkhousen.
