Ronald Dean Nielsen, age 62, of Cresco, formerly of Elma, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Linn Haven Rehab and Health Care in New Hampton.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Elma,  with Pastor Daird Korth officiating. 
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will be in Howard Cemetery at Elma at a later date.  Condolences for Ron’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.
Ronald Dean Nielsen was born on August 8, 1956 to Marvin and Beverly (Kirchner) Nielsen in Cedar Rapids.
The family later moved to Elma.  
Ron attended school in Cresco, where he graduated from Crestwood High School  in 1974. 
He was employed as a forklift operator at Sara Lee for 10 years until his health prevented him from working and has not been able to work since.
Ron enjoyed being with family, fishing, buying and selling cars and horticulture.
Ron is survived by his mother, Beverly Flugge of Elma; son, Barry (Sara) Nielsen of Woden and their children Clayton, Annabelle and Kimberley; sisters, Kathy (Bob) McIntyre of Cresco, and Pat Mitchell of Elma; brothers, James (Jainqin) Nielsen of Sugarland, Texas, and Peder (Pegr) Nielsen of Gilbert, Arizona.
He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 
He was preceded in death by his father Marvin, stepfather Donald Flugge, and his grandparents.
