Ronald Kuennen age 78 of Lawler, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, with Rev. Kyle Digmann celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may greet the family 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6:45 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday.Funeral arrangements are with Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Lawler.  Online condolences for Ronald's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comRonald “Ronnie” William Kuennen was born June 13, 1938, near Festina, the son of William and Vera (Lusson) Kuennen. He attended St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas through the fourth grade when the family moved to Lawler. He then completed his education in Lawler, graduating from high school in 1956. On Oct. 25, 1960, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, Minn., be married Kathryn “Kay” Mallinger. To this union six children were born. The couple farmed north of Lawler for 43 years. Ronnie also worked for a feed mill, owned and operated Ron’s Farm Supply for 15 years and the car wash in Lawler for many years as well. After retirement he delivered the Waterloo Courier for many years. His wife Kay died on June 6, 2003, at the age of 62. Ron will be remembered by his family for his ability to keep all birthdays, anniversary and other dates straight. He knew so many family genealogies; who was married to who, maiden names, who were their parents, where they lived and how they were all related. Mostly, Ronnie loved the time he spent with his friends and family.Survivors include two sons, David (Jacquie) Kuennen of Burnsville, Pat (Kris) Kuennen of Alexandria, Minn; three daughters, Carolyn Kuennen of Apple Valley, Minn., Mary Kuennen of Minneapolis, Veronica (Brian) Hill of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Brian Kuennen, Katy Dubbels, Emily Kuennen, Abby Hill, Sam Kuennen and Jake Hill; four brothers, Jerry (Andrea) Kuennen of Burnsville, MN, Bill (Linda) Kuennen of Cedar Rapids, Bob (Alice) Kuennen of Cedar Falls, Vern (Betsy) Kuennen of Davenport; one sister, Helen (Dan) Cahalan of Rockwell.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathryn and son, John Kuennen in 2014.
