Shari Vetter, age 77 of Greene, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Valley View Care Center in Greene.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at the St. John United Church of Christ - Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua.
Friends greeted the family from 2- 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory -- Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continued an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Online condolences for Shari's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com 
Shari Lea Vetter was born on July 8, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Burrell and Lenora (Tetzloff) Bray. She attended schools in Colwell and Floyd before graduating from the Charles City High School. While in high school she worked for Sammy T at Sammy’s restaurant in Charles City, where she was his best waitress. After high school Shari attended Stewardess School in Minneapolis.
Shari later moved to Washington D.C. to become a civilian secretary for the Marine Corp. When she came back home for a New Year's Eve party, she met the love of her life, Donald Charles Vetter. The couple were married on June 13, 1965 at the Colwell United Church of Christ. They were blessed with two children; Marsha and Eric.
Once the couple moved back to Iowa they worked hand in hand on the farm. Shari loved farm life and sharing it with her husband. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of a league in Charles City. She belonged to the exclusive 500 and 600 club. Bowling was important to Shari and she never wanted to give it up.
Along with bowling she also enjoyed playing cards with her neighborhood club, usually playing 500. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Charles City VFW Auxiliary. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
Shari is survived by her daughter, Marsha (William) Duncan of Charles City; one son, Eric Vetter of Charles City; four grandchildren, Karly (Chase Sanders) Holland of Portland, Oregon, Jordyn Lair of Portland, Oregon, Ryeleigh Lair of Iowa City, Wesley Lair of Charles City; one brother, Eldon (Kathy) Bray of Lemars; one sister-in-law, Laura Koeff of Denver; one aunt, Evelyn Gilbert of New Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Vetter on Sept. 13, 2017; her parents; one brother-in-law, Delvin Koeff; her in-laws, Walter and Anna Marie Vetter; sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Leon) Scott, Elsie (Art) Heitz, Edna (Donald) Speicher, Louise (Clarence) Gersema; brother-in-law Gerald (Beulah) Vetter.
