The Turkey Valley softball team got their first win of the season last Wednesday, as they defeated North Fayette Valley in the first game of a doubleheader 19-6 in just six innings.

Sadie Tenge was asked last week how it felt to be finally competing again, and the New Hampton senior answered with a wide smile.

After posting a perfect score on Saturday, May 18, senior Cameron Maas made it back-to-back 50s during his showing last Monday at Turkey Valley. As the only competitor to not miss a bird, Maas took home first in the men’s division.

After a couple of years knocking at the door, the New Hampton girls golf team knocked it down Wednesday at the Ames Golf and Country Club, where the Chickasaws claimed the school’s first ever state team title in the sport.

It wasn’t exactly the start to the season Turkey Valley wanted as the Trojans dropped four games during the opening week.

Ask two of the senior leaders of the New Hampton baseball team, and they’ll tell you opening week couldn’t have gone much better for the Chickasaws.

Although no one boasted a perfect 50, a quartet of individuals posted a score of 49 last week for Turkey Valley - Dalton Rush, Tate Langreck, Lane Arens, and Kaylie Klimesh.

As the lone senior on the Chickasaw varsity girls golf team, Regan Gebel may have had a few more distractions the day before the regional finals than the rest of the girls.

After finishing sixth at state two years ago, the New Hampton boys’ golf team duplicated this performance at the Class 2A State Golf Tournament at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.

The New Hampton girls golf team got off to a great start Tuesday at the Class 2A state tournament as the Chickasaws took a 23-shot lead before play was called off because of inclement weather.

New Hampton’s boys golf team completed a highly successful season with a sixth-place finish at the Class 2A state tournament after Friday’s final round was cancelled due to poor course conditions at Marshalltown’s American Legion Golf Course.

The New Hampton trapshooting team showed off its depth of talent last week in a trio of meets. While it’s no secret New Hampton Red has been the Chickasaws’ best squad all year, some other groups proved to be a force as well.

With its top six hitters back - all seniors -  after a 23-15 record last season, New Hampton softball coach Jack Seelhammer has some lofty expectations for this year’s squad.

The seniors for the New Hampton baseball team will have a chance to make history this season, as they have an opportunity to win their fifth straight conference title. 

In three meets last week, the Turkey Valley trapshooting team boasted two perfect 50s. 
Not only did individuals shine for the Trojans, but the squads had some of their best scores of the season as well.
