Sticking with it pays off

Lead Summary

From his sophomore to junior season, Hunter Pesek’s baseball career changed massively. He went from recording just four total at-bats during his sophomore campaign to being the lone Chickasaw selected by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association (IPSWA) as an all-state player, making the third team in Class 2A as an outfielder.
“Hunter is a great story. One hallmark of Chickasaw baseball is development and improvement for those who stick with it, and Hunter epitomizes this. He didn’t come out as an eighth grader, tried various positions as a freshman and didn’t play varsity as a sophomore beyond courtesy running,” New Hampton baseball coach Cory McDonald said. “Some players may have quit at that point. But as a result of coachability, dedication and hard work, Hunter had a breakout junior season while earning all-conference, all-district and all-state honors.”
