Talented Trojans

Lead Summary

Although they had a rough start to the season - possessing a record of 1-6 to start the 2019 campaign - the Turkey Valley softball team turned their year around to boast an overall record of 18-16. This included a third place finish in the Upper Iowa Conference, as they were 11-5 in conference games.
Because of this strong showing, a quintet of Trojans were honored by the Upper Iowa as all-conference selections. Senior Shayla Kuennen and freshman Josie Weber were both nominated to the first team, freshman Kara Reicks was awarded second team and the junior duo of Jordan Lukes and Jaedyn Winter were named honorable mentions.
Kuennen capped off her career as a three year starter with a bang. This season, she ranked first in conference play in slugging percentage at a whopping .857 clip. Her on-base percentage (.587) and average (.510) were also among the top three of anyone in the Upper Iowa.
