Translating success

Lead Summary

Many of the same individuals who competed for Turkey Valley’s state semifinal football team participate in basketball for the Trojans. After a historic year on the gridiron, coach Chris Sullivan hopes it will translate to the court this winter as they chase their fourth consecutive Upper Iowa Conference championship.
“Almost every kid who is out for basketball played football, and they had a great season,” Sullivan said. “I am a firm believer that momentum from one sport carries over to the next sport, and we will look to ride the momentum of a record-breaking season in football and follow that up in basketball.”
The high expectations Sullivan has for his team is no coincidence, as Turkey Valley returns nearly every key contributor from last year’s team that heralded a record of 18-5.
