Trojan girls' track finds positives at first outdoor meet

With no all-weather track at Turkey Valley, the meet at Decorah Friday was the first time the girls track team was on a 400-meter track all spring.  And as the only 1A school there, they were out-manned, going up against teams with dozens and dozens more competitors than their 13.  But coach Brian Schmitt was far from disappointed with the team's last place finish among the nine schools.  "You know, I look at it as we have to go where the competition is, it's only going to make us better in the long run," he said.  Fifth place was the highest finish by any of the Lady Trojans. Shelby Reicks finished fifth in the 800-meter run and fellow senior Sadie Nymeyer landed there in the long jump with a distance just 2 1/4 inches off her personal best.  For all of the Turkey Valley results, please see the April 11 Tribune.
