Trojans find points in medley

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley junior Elliott Dietzenbach couldn’t help but laugh when asked about the difference between Thursday’s 4x800 and Friday’s distance medley at the Class 1A state track meet.
“The 20 degrees difference was nice, really nice,” Dietzenbach said, “but seriously, I think the big thing was the guys kept me closer to the pack, and I felt pretty confident when I got the baton.”
A day after the Trojans finished 14th in the 4x800 that was run with temperatures in the 90s, Ryan Olson to Kade Kruse to Eli Nymeyer to Dietzenbach clicked on all cylinders in Friday’s distance medley, running a season-best time of 3:39.12 to finish sixth and give the Trojans their lone three points of the meet.
