Trojans light up scoreboard again

Lead Summary

After Turkey Valley's win over Riceville Friday night, coach Mark Scott emphasized how important every district game is with the new playoff system. But this upcoming week is a doozie. Not only are the Trojans hosting the only other ranked team in the district in AGWSR, it's Homecoming 2016. Turkey Valley comes into the game undefeated, while the Cougars are just off a non-district loss to top-ranked Don Bosco. “AGWSR is new to the 8-player game and has been winning,” said Scott. While Ackley-Geneva/Wells-Steamboat Rock is not in all the rankings, the Trojans are. Turkey Valley is ranked sixth by AP and the Gazette and fourth by the Register, while the Cougars are fourth in the AP and eighth in the Gazette rankings. The teams have one common opponent as the Cougars also won over Riceville, by a much closer 35-14 score. For more on the story, please see the Sept. 20 Tribune.
