Trojans shine at Border Battle

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley’s girls have had close games before. Half of the eight games for the Lady Trojans this season have been decided by seven points or less. The boys, on the other hand, hadn’t had a game closer than 13 points.
But both had one in the Border Battle Saturday as both teams played the Minnesota team Lyle-Pacelli in games at Decorah. And while the boys were able to pull out an overtime victory, the girls lost by four, 54-50.
Both the Trojan girls and boys teams knocked down the most 3-point shots of the season, six for the girls and nine for the boys.
The long-range shooting by the girls wasn’t enough to offset two potent weapons for the Athletics, the Minnesota State Class A champions last year.
Details on each of the games may be found in the Dec. 18 Tribune.
