Turkey Valley gets hard-fought revenge against South Winn

Lead Summary

When South Winn hit a 3-point shot with 28 seconds left in Friday’s game against the Trojans, the Warriors cut a Turkey Valley lead — which had been as much as eight points earlier in the quarter — to three points. When Eli Reicks was fouled and went to the line to shoot a pair of free throws, there was 13.6 seconds left on the clock.
“I was a little nervous,” the Turkey Valley junior said after the game. “I knew if I made the first, that would give us a two-possession lead.”
He made both and the Trojans defeated the same team that had defeated them just before Christmas. Well, not quite the same team, as two Warrior players were recently suspended.
“Give credit to South Winn as they played great team ball and played for each other during tough circumstances,” said Trojan coach Chris Sullivan, “which we knew would happen because they're well coached.”
The 58-53 win over the Warriors was sandwiched between two other wins.
More on the three wins may be found in the Feb. 5 Tribune.
