Turkey Valley girls lose heartbreaker at the buzzer

Lead Summary

With four senior starters, Kee High may have had the upper hand this time around, but not by much.
When Turkey Valley coach Carla Nymeyer said her team lost on a last-second shot, she was serious. There was one second remaining on the clock when Lansing Kee got off a shot that won Tuesday night’s game, 38-37.
The escape by Kee left them with only one loss on the season, to 3A, seventh-ranked Waukon.
“At the end with 2.3 seconds left Kee was able to foul on the inbound and we reacted with a flagrant foul,” Nymeyer said. “We missed on the 1-on-1 foul, Kee connected on both technical foul free throws.”
One of those four seniors, Makayla Walleser made the free throws, then an in-bounds pass from mid-court connected with Walleser in the lane for the winning basket.
