Turkey Valley golf numbers double from a year ago

Lead Summary

When considering Turkey Valley’s golf records last year — when the girls were ninth in the conference with a 2-10 record and the boys were 10th with a 1-10 record — keep in mind the experience the teams had.    The girls started from scratch. Every single girl out — and coach John Reicks only had five on the roster — was a newcomer. And while the boys had three lettermen return, two of those golfers competed sporadically, as one played in a basketball league and only golfed twice and the other shared his talents with the track team. With only six on the team, that didn’t leave a lot of room for a bad day by the remaining group.  But of the four times Cale Reicks wasn’t needed on the track, he improved his golf skills, finishing the season with a team-low 42.8 average and earned all-conference honors at the end of the season.  More on the story may be found in the April 4 Tribune.
