TV girls bring down times, finish fifth at Sumner-Fred

Lead Summary

A track season is all about goals. Some are met, some aren't. When Turkey Valley's Kassidy Reicks threw 13 feet farther in the discus at Sumner-Fredericksburg than she'd thrown in all of this, her rookie throwing season, coach Brian Schmitt just turned around and made a new goal.    "It was an awesome PR, I think it even surprised her," said Schmitt, who may be a bit biased about his volunteer throwing coach, who is also his wife. "Dana is doing an amazing job teaching the discus to Kassidy. Our next mark will be 100 feet." Reicks was fifth at Sumner-Fred with her throw of 94'5".    As the Lady Trojans were finishing fifth of the eight teams at Sumner-Fredericksburg Monday, Shelby Reicks led the team's scoring with a win in the 1,500-meter run, second-place points in the 400 and fourth place in the 100, anchoring the sprint medley which finished fifth.   Turkey Valley results from the meet may be found in the April 28 Tribune.
