Twin goals for sectional

In one way, sectional wrestling tournaments are all about the individuals.
In another way, at least for teams like New Hampton/Turkey Valley, those sectionals are all about the team.
“The bottom line is you’re trying to get as many guys to districts as possible,” Chickasaw co-coach Matt Paulus said, “and if you do that, the team thing will take care of itself. For us, it’s all about the team. We want to be wrestling in the duals, and to do that, the individuals have to do well.”
New Hampton/Turkey Valley may be unranked in the traditional tournament rankings, but the Chickasaws, who have won the last two Class 2A state dual-meet championships, are ranked third in the final Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Class 2A dual rankings.
The road to a fifth-straight state dual-meet tournament, though, begins Saturday in Decorah at the sectional tournament that begins at noon.
