 Wanda Marie Farrell Piper age 92 of Waucoma died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home and surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma with Rev. Kyle Digmann presiding. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waucoma. Friends may greet the family 4 - 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at the church.   Funeral arrangements are with the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Waucoma.  Online condolences for Wanda’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comWanda Marie Farrell Piper was born January 18, 1924, in rural Black Hawk County, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Griffin) Weber. She was a graduate of Waterloo West High School. On June 20, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, she married Lyle Farrell. To this union six children were born. The couple lived in Waucoma where they raised their family. They loved dancing together especially to Lawrence Welk when he was in the area. Her husband Lyle died in 1965. Wanda initially worked as a postal clerk in 1954 in Waucoma and then as Postmaster in the St. Lucas Post Office until retiring in April of 1988. Wanda loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her yard. She enjoyed mowing, tending to her gardens, feeding the birds, caring for her cats, traveling but above all she enjoyed having her family together no matter where it was.Survivors include three sons, Michael Farrell of Waucoma, Thomas (Susan) Farrell of Hawkeye, James (Renae) Farrell of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Diane (Daryl) Franzen of Hastings, Minn., Patty (Russ) Voss of Waucoma; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Joseph Farrell in infancy; two brothers, Francis Weber and Joseph Weber; one sister, Kathleen Garcia; a daughter-in-law, Linda Farrell and a grandson, Joseph Farrell.
